London Life: Day 26, Travel Week

Today was our last day of travel week and we were exhausted from all our travels. Because of this exhaustion, we decided to sleep in and that we did. We slept in till like 11, well I did, the others actually woke up and did things like watch Young Victoria again. I got them hooked just like me! So we woke up and made breakfast. McKenzie made a delicious, home-made pastry. It was flippin delicious and I am going to attempt to make it one day. Be expecting a blog post! It was about 1 in the afternoon and we decided we needed to do something with our day. We decided to do our Sherlock Day! We were going to go to the Sherlock Museum (just the gift shop) and the apartment that they use is the BBC TV show Sherlock. We headed out the door and were on our way. The Baker tube stop we got off at for the Sherlock Holmes museum had Sherlock Holmes stuff all up in it! It was so awesome! It had Sherlock tiling on the wall and Sherlock stories all over. Also, outside there was a huge Sherlock Holmes statue. They even had signs outside for 221b Baker Street where Sherlock and Watson lived.  Made me so happy! So naturally, we took pictures.

We got out of the tube station and walked down to the museum. There was a HUGE line so we just took pictures in front of it and went to the gift shop. I love Sherlock Holmes so much and was so happy to be where those stories are set. There were so many amazing things at the shop I wanted to get, but I refrained and only got a keychain and a postcard. I have decided to make a collage of postcards on the wall of my loft next year. I am excited. So we took our pictures at the Sherlock museum and shop and then headed over to the Beatles shop next door. I got a patch that says The Beatles Abbey Road which I am going to put on my back pack. I also got a postcard to add to the collection of the Beatles. It is a really awesome and simple picture of them in black and white. I love it!

^^Sherlock and Watson!

After the museum and Beatles shop, we headed over to 187 North Gower Street where the apartment they use for the BBC show "Sherlock." I was so excited to go there! The shop next door is also in the show. I could not believe that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman had stood on these steps and walked through the door I was touching. Ahh!! I still can't believe I was there. I love that show so much and the actors are ridiculously amazing. If you haven't seen the show Sherlock, get off my blog, get on Netflix and watch it. Yes, right now. Do it. It is such a great show. You will not regret it.

^^The ground Benedict and Martin walked on...

^^Pure happiness from us

^^The door knocker that is used in the show! "Anyone home?"

After our Sherlock Day, Tessa, McKenzie, and I decided that we were to tired to make ourselves dinner and we were very sick of tortellini, so we ate at Byrons. We love our shakes, fries, and a burger. McKenzie and I shared a burger and fries and each got out own chocolate shakes. So delicious! We went back to the flat and laid down for awhile. I read the plot summary of Shakespeare's "Cymbeline" to McKenzie and I since we were seeing it that night and knew nothing about it. I realized that if I know the story line of the Shakespeare show that I am seeing, I enjoy the play a lot more and actually know what is going on. After about an hour, McKenzie and I realized that we really needed to leave. The theater for our show called The Space was a good ways away and we weren't exactly sure where we were going. We booked our way out the door and saw the bus coming so we ran, but sadly we missed it. We also just barely missed the tube. Today was not our day. Thankfully, we got to Canary Wharf with a good amount of time. We started walking and had no idea where we were going, so we asked a police officer and he told us exactly where to go. The walk to the theater ended up being a 25 minute walk, but we made it there with 10 minutes to spare!

We met up with my friend Stephen Pucci and headed into the theater. It was the Shakespeare show "Cymbeline," but it was set in the gold rush times. It had such an interesting concept and was so well done. There were a few things I wasn't sure about, but for the most part I loved it. McKenzie and I will definitely be back to see it again. Another cool thing about it was that the theater was a renovated church. You could tell that the theater used to be where the chapel was. It was so cool! After the show, we talked to some of the members of the cast and then Stephen walked us to the bus station. He had a friend in the cast so he walked us there since it was late and went back to the theater. We were standing at the bus stop with no idea what bus to get on. We were about to just start walking when one of the guys from the cast, Sam, walked up to the bus stop and started talking to us. We talked with him on the bus, walking to the station, and on the tube for a little. He is such a great guy! He gave us some really great advice and it was just so fun to talk to him. We headed back to the flat and headed to bed. Only down side to today is that I am getting sick. Sore throat and runny nose are no fun, but I will fight it! Church tomorrow. I'm excited :)
