Today was our first time traveling during travel week and it was amazing! We woke and got to the train station at 8:50ish. We printed out our tickets and saw that our train didn't leave till 9:25, so we got a Starbucks and checked out American Apparel. We also found the 9 3/4 Platform so, of course, we took pictures. You want to know something about England? They do not have rubbish bins, like anywhere. McKenzie and I walked around the whole station looking for one and could not find one. It's ridiculous! I still love England though. I will forgive them. When we were finally allowed, we headed to our train and got awesome seats by the window that faced each other. I was so excited about this train ride through the English country side. It was so gorgeous!
We arrived in Cambridge and walked to the center of town. We passed this hilarious Nursery School that was called Baby Unicorn Nursery. Say what??! They obviously raise baby unicorns there! Exciting, I know. We took pictures with the sweet unicorn statue and then kept walking. This town is so gorgeous. Every building has historical meaning and has gorgeous historic architecture. I love this college town! We stopped at a cute little market and walked around. We went to an Info building and bought tickets to go Punting down the river. I was very excited!
Punting down the river was so much fun. It almost felt like going down the river in a gondola. We were in these long boats with a guy at the end pushing us along. The tour took us on the back side of a lot of the colleges. Our punter told us so much history about all the colleges and everything we passed, even the bridges. He was attractive, knowledgeable, and British! Not too and if I say so myself. It was so gorgeous and relaxing floating down the river. I loved every second of the punting tour!

After the Punting, we headed to meet up with a Professor (called a Fellow here) that Tessa's bother had taken from when he attended Cambridge. We met up with him and he showed us around two of the colleges. He knew SO much and it was such an interesting tour. We were lucky because the students are taking exams right now so none of the colleges were open to the public, BUT since we were with a professor, we were allowed to go in. I also realized on this tour that I would never make it at Cambridge. They have to write a 2,000 word essay every week. SAY WHAT?! That could never happen from me. It is an incredible University and I have so much respect for the people that attend it. Charles Darwin and Issac Newton studied at this University! I love it so much. Our tour with the Fellow ended at the Eagle, a pub that the locals and tourists like to go to. He was so great, he even bought us all sodas and we sat at a table and talked for a while. He took time out of his day to give us a tour and then HE bought US sodas. He is seriously just a great guy and I am so grateful to have gotten to meet him. After the tour, he had to leave to go to another meeting and we stayed at the pub to eat lunch. I got butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and risotto. It was so delicious and for dessert McKenzie and I shared Sticky Toffee Pudding. This was such a cool pub! On the ceiling, soldiers from WWII had burned their initials onto the ceiling and the guys who discovered DNA used to hang out here. I love places with so much historical background!
^^^Millionaire Bar I got on the way to the tour. I was hungry!
With full bellies, we headed over to the King's College Chapel to attend an Evensong. It was so beautiful. There was an all men's choir that sang and they were incredible. The acoustics were so great in this chapel and the Men sounded like angels. There were even some of them that were quite attractive and knowing they also attended Cambridge made them even more attractive. I saw one that I thought was super cute until I saw him pick his nose....and eat it. REALLY?! You attend Cambridge and you're still doing that?! What, are you five?? I was highly disappointed, but I moved on. I quickly forgot about that as I listened to their beautiful singing. After Evensong, it was time to head back to London. We hopped on the train, got to the Tube station and headed home. I could not have asked for a better first trip during travel week. We had so much fun today and it was so perfect. I love Cambridge and everything about it! Can't wait to go back some day!
